HUMAN BEHAVIOURAL INSTINCTS

The world existed before the human species; this is robustly interlinked with the scientific evolutionary origin of man. Human beings are different from animals in that, they possess a high IQ that is capable of making them feel happy and rejuvenated or rather useless. In the real sense, animals don’t have real feelings, they are just conditioned to feel a similar way their whole lives. A panther knows only to devour the targeted prey, similar to dolphins, which only know how to bubbly swim blending in well with the waves; probably aiming to save the drowning human lives. All the same, we are all creatures. However, all creatures on earth have a common trait, “survival for the fittest.” This trait cannot be substituted since it arises from the course of nature.

Humans from all walks of life strive to live a better life each day. Success is chased each minute; collectively cocooned in possessions such as businesses, college degrees, lands, mansionette, highly-paying jobs, well-endowed partners and flashy cars among other necessities that would make one shed sweat, tears and blood. The purpose of human life after the first gulp of the acrid air is survival. Wild beasts crossing river Mara, get attacked by hungry crocodiles; therefore, not all make it to Serengeti National Reserve, Tanzania. Ironically, the assorted tourists who visit Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya to watch the rare-kind magical cross-over; accidentally lose their lives to the hungry camouflaged lions and cheetahs on the savannah grassland, during their daring lively photography work.

Human behavior stems from a primal survival instinct. In the 21st century, there are paths that are crafted and believed to lead one to success. However, these paths often become futile, since they are flooded and sometimes coerced. For instance, Education is believed to be the key to success in life. I would confidently conclude that; if education is the only key to success, then the padlock has been changed in our current world. Believe it or not, people have made it in life without much of trending in the education path; courtesy of Bill Gates, Cristiano Ronaldo and Diamond Platinumz, among other worldly iconic identities.

Our parents, guardians, sponsors and well-wishers take us to school to study, eagerly aiming to see us secure a sparkling bright future; probably similar to that of the musical Justin Bieber. However, what you get from school are certificates and a filled-up head, with things that you may never use in your life. I don’t recall the last time I used the Mathematics formulae (a half base times height). I only used the then crammed formulae during my Kenya Certificate of Primary Education; I don’t even see myself ever using it again.

Recently, I came across a letter on Facebook allegedly written by a teacher in Singapore, I momentarily switched off my lively virtual engagement with friends, family and colleagues. My rather nut-brown eyes were glued to the Singaporean genius script that said:

“Dear parents,

You children’s exams are to start soon. I know you are very anxious for your children to do well. But please recall that amongst the students sitting for the exams, there is an artist who does not understand Maths. Likewise, is an entrepreneur who hates History or Literature. A musician who is allergic to Chemistry, Sportsmen only need physical fitness but not physics. Do not burn down your children self-confidence in the name of top marks. Life has more to offer to them and don’t judge them and you will watch them fly so high like eagles in the cloudy skies.

With warm regards,

The Principal.”

Unleash your inner potential.
