The human nature craves for sex and the sexual experiences have become a basic need which have evolved to forms of pleasure that have led to one night stands. However, the human population ignore the fact that there are consequences that arise from the sweet escapades they crave for, the results include:
Human papillomavirus (HPV):
This infection is spread by having unprotected vaginal, anal or oral sex. It can also be spread by a mother to baby through pregnancy, labor or nursing. So the next time you try to put into practice what you watch in movies (Life on top, Addicted….) or rather what people consider to be sexy and romantic in today’s world of love and relationships. It is the most common sexually transmitted infection according to the medical statistics conducted by World Health Organization. Many people with (HPV) don’t develop any symptoms but can still infect others through the “sexy and romantic” sex escapades that today’s world crave for; the funny thing is that people have so much determination and perseverance towards putting into action the erotic scenes they watch in movies (series) and they would do anything just to get things done; having a very strong faith that it will blow their partners minds and keep them coming for more. Don’t get me wrong am not against watching movies (series), what am trying to imply is that those are just scenes designed for entertainment and infact some of them are not even real…So don’t put what you see into the real world because it would cost you a thousand bucks when you get infected and you will be required to pertake further screening and treatment. Unfortunately, Human papillomavirus has no cure and is considered to be chronic (can last for years or be life long). The infection is characterized by warts (skin projections that look like a freshly swollen burnt skin). The only form of treatment that a medical microbiologist can advise is removal of those warts through surgical procedures and vaccination for both boys and girls.
Chlamydia:
Chlamydia affects people of all ages but it mostly affects young women; just as HPV it is spread by having unprotected vaginal, anal or oral sex and also by a mother to a baby through pregnancy labor or nursing. The infection has no signs and symptoms and can still be spread to others through “The well invested, steamy sex escapades” Now you can agree with me why I am condemning those sexual experiences that people consider “unforgettable”. Social statistics conducted by World Health Organization (WHO) show that most people use protection only when they are having sex for the first few times with their partners but with time they become bored and they no longer want the sheath (protection). Accordance to DR. Rachael Ross, a medical doctor / sexologist; people become bored of condoms because they want to experience a deeper connection with each other believing that the experience will facilitate a strong bond between them. Rachael Ross, condemns the act of not using condoms and furtherly explains that a deep connection is not solely from sex, whether protected or unprotected; but from sharing similar values, respecting each other and loving each other unconditionally; sex just becomes the top icing of the cake. However, chlamydia is short-term and resolves within days to a few weeks after administering of antibiotic therapy. Some symptoms which include genital pain and discharge may begin to diminish upon strictly following the prescription given by the doctor or rather a medical microbiologist consulted by the doctor on which form of treatment (therapy) is best for the patient involved.
Gonorrhea:
This type of infection is caused by a bacterium know as Neisseria gonorroheae which resides in the warm and moist cavities of the body. We all know which these moist cavities of the body; vagina, penis, mouth, rectum and even in the eyes. It can be transmitted through a variety of sexual contacts which include: Unprotected vaginal sex, anal sex, oral sex and kissing. Kissing has no protection, off course you cannot use a condom while kissing and oral hygiene does not guarantee that the bacteria that causes gonorrhea will be eliminated because toothpaste and mouth wash are not antibiotics. I am not condemning kissing here, what I am implying is that you should have only one partner who you do kiss in order for you to minimize the risk of getting infected as compared to when you just crave, to kiss every sexy dude or that sexy chick that you come across. For men, the following are the signs that you will exhibit when you get infected: a hot burning sensation during urinating, testicular pain (swelling) and a green/ white/ yellow discharge from the penis. For the ladies these are the signs that you will have when you get infected: swelling of the vulva, pain during urination, pink eye (conjunctivitis), irregular bleeding (between periods). Those who love anal sex, this is what you will experience when you get infected: a vigorous anal itch, painful bowel movements and sometimes discharge. Oral sex fanatics, these will be the results that you will reap after your “mind blowing” adventures: a hot burning sensation in the throat and swollen salivary glands
Tell me, how will you eat those fries, pizza, burgers?
Syphilis:
This infection is caused by a bacterium referred to as Treponema pallidum and transmitted through sexual contact. We all know that for chicks to be hatched, eggs have to be incubated for 21 days; Similarly, there is a 9-90-day incubation period after initial infection – average time, 21 days before the initial signs and symptoms of the disease begin to show. Some infected people do not show signs and symptoms; while for others the signs may be mild. Signs may diminish but the bacteria will still have been embedded in the individual’s body and may pose a threat to serious health problems; therefore you should visit a hospital where diagnosis will be done and the proper antibiotic therapy will be administered to the patient involved.
Scabies:
Scabies is a contagious skin condition caused by Sarcoptes scaibei, a tiny mite that burrow deep into the skin and lay their eggs. The patient will have skin rash and experiences intense itchiness and the affected are always unaware of their conditions for several weeks until the initial signs of infection, which means that scabies spreads rapidly just the way fire spreads in dry Savannah grassland. Some experts including vector biology specialists believe that scabies is caused by poor living conditions while there is no scientific proof. Scabies is mostly transmitted through close body contact which include: holding hands for a long time, sexual intercourse (whether protected or unprotected), hugging an infected person and even shaking their hands. This reminds me of my high school classmate nicknamed as Obieze (don’t curse me Obi...if you are reading this article…I am just doing my job). Obieze was the Form four James Bond 007, he obsessed with girls that he would “jump” from one girl to the other irrespective of the class the girls came from, surprisingly even form ones who had not finished a month in high school. During weekends afternoon boys’ talk, Obieze would brag to us how he kissed, enjoyed sex and caressed the most beautiful girls in school......Long story cut short, Our very own classmate, Obieze started having skin rash that resembled tiny insect bites, intense itchiness that could affect him at night during preps, the rashes could be spotted on his elbow, scalp, neck face, knees and shoulders. It did not take long before his close friends were infected and they were all suspended from school until they were free from the contagious skin conditions no one knew exactly what it was.
Molluscum contagiosum:
This is a contagious skin infection caused by a virus. Type 2; is transmitted through having sexual intercourse but other types (Type 1, Type 3 and Type 4) may affects young children and are not considered as sexually transmitted. The infection is characterized by bumps that usually disappear after 2 years but a doctor can remove the bumps using chemicals, using an electric current or simply through freezing them. Also there are medicines that can be used to bet rid of the growths.
Trichomoniasis:
A protozoan parasite referred to as Trichomonas vaginalis leads to Trichomoniasis in bot males and females. However, more symptoms are majorly seen in women. For women the site of infection is the vagina; the best place a man would want to be and would anything for the girl just to be there; infact these kind of men who are obsessed in being in that place the should know that, “All that glitters is not gold.” Transmission can occur either through penis to vagina or vagina to vagina; this also poses a threat to lesbians. Signs that your other half (female partner) has the infection includes: Vaginal odor (smells like rotten eggs), vaginal discharge, pain during sexual intercourse and pain while urinating.
HIV/ AIDS:
I will not dwell not so much into this type of infection, because even a kid in Primary (Elementary) school can tell you what you need to know about HIV / AIDS. In simple terms I mean that there is global awareness about the infection which has been achieved by programs conducted by international organizations which include UNICEF, WHO, USAID and UN.
